Brief History

Balai Standardisasi Pelayanan Jasa Industri (BSPJI) Palembang previously known as Balai Riset & Standardisasi (Baristand) Industri Palembang is a technical implementing unit within the Ministry of Industry under Badan Standardisasi dan Kebijakan Jasa Industri (BSKJI) Kementerian Perindustrian.

Definitively, this institution was inaugurated in 1981 based on the Decree of SK. Menperin No. 357/M/SK/8/1980 dated August 26, 1980 as Balai Industri Palembang under Balai Penelitian dan Pengembangan Industri (BPPI). After that, this institution changed its name to Baristand Industri dan Perdagangan Palembang based on SK Menperindag No. 784/MPP/Kep/11/2002 dated November 29, 2002, then based on Peraturan Menteri Perindustrian No.49/MIND/PER/6/2006 tanggal 29 Juni 2006, dated June 29, 2006, it changed its name to Baristand Industri Palembang.

Based on Peraturan Presiden Republik Indonesia Nomor 107 tahun 2020 tentang Kementerian Perindustrian, Badan Penelitian dan Pengembangan Industri (BPPI) was transformed into Badan Standardisasi dan Kebijakan Jasa Industri (BSKJI).

Along with the change of BPPI to BSKJI, in early 2022, the name of Balai Riset dan Standardisasi (Baristand) Industri Palembang also changed to Balai Standardisasi dan Pelayanan Jasa Industri Palembang or commonly abbreviated as BSPJI Palembang.
